How it Works
Currently, our junior cycle assessment is divided into four main parts which we call courses:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Earth and Space
These courses are subdivided into further sections such as Matter, Solutions and Crystals, Mixtures etc. in Chemistry, Motion in Physics etc.
Each section contains a number of question sets, for instance The Atom section in the Chemistry course has five question sets (as shown below). Each question set will usually have twenty or more short questions that test the student’s understanding of that topic. Different questions are assigned different points depending on difficulty and how many parts to the question.
Types of question include:
Most question include media such as photos or graphics.
Reporting:
At the end of each set of questions, the student will be given feedback including:
- Single choice
- Multiple choice
- Free choice
- Sorting
- Matching
- Fill in the Blank

Reporting:
At the end of each set of questions, the student will be given feedback including:
- Number of questions answered correctly.
- Time that the student spent on that question set.
- Points awarded for current set of questions.
- Percentage result achieved.
- Comparison with the average score achieved by other users.
By selecting the View Questions button (shown above), the student may access a complete breakdown of their answers submitted, which of these questions were correct and which were incorrect, in order to improve future learning.

- their overall (average) grade for Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth & Space separately
- the most recent result of every question set attempted (see below) by clicking/selecting the ► link on the left. Their most recent attempt is shown, which is usually their best attempt.

Detailed Results
A student may obtain near full details of each question set attempted by clicking/selecting the icon shown in the above image. In the example shown below the student can see the result of each question in a particular question set. Where a student is part of a class group, the group leader (teacher) also has access to this data.
Every question set attempted by every student is stored so that gaps in learning may be identified and improvement made.
